Using Cloth Diapers is Better for Baby's Health
Momtrepreneur Malou Dery, owner of Super Duper Diapers in Halifax, reveals the benefits of using cloth diapers for baby's health.
HALIFAX, NS, CANADA, September 14, 2009 /Parenting PR News/ -- As we are discovering everyday the consequences of the choices we have made in the past related to our health, such as the overuse of antibiotics in children or toxic cleaning products in our homes, scientists are revealing more studies that prove how much better using cloth diapers is for baby's health instead of using disposable diapers.
Information provided by the Environment Canada website (http://www.ec.gc.ca/EnviroZine/english/issues/45/any_questions_e.cfm) reveals that the waste of disposable diapers in our landfills may become a place of reproduction for virus such as Hepatitis B and Polio due to the vaccines given to newborns.
Malou Dery, owner of Super Duper Diapers in Halifax, explains: "We are just starting to discover how much our everyday choices may affect our health and it can start right at birth with using cloth diapers for baby's health."
Here are some facts to support Dery's assertion:
Scientists believe that disposable diapers could be linked to infertility among men and testicular cancer. Researches done in Germany suggest that disposable diapers could have a negative effect on the boys' reproductive system; the plastic layer inside the diapers increased the scrotal temperature of one degree (scrotal temperature is known to diminish the number of sperm cells among adults).
"For me, Dery continues, it's a logical choice. I don't see why I would expose my baby's skin and genital parts to chemical products such as sodium polyacrylate (which has been withdrawn of feminine tampons since 1985 in the USA), benzole, a cancer source, furan and dioxin (one of the most toxic substances for humans). I just don't understand why most people still choose disposable diapers despite these facts."
In 2000, Greenpeace found some tributyl tin and other tin components in disposable diapers. Those chemicals are highly toxic and disrupt the immune system on the top of poisoning the hormonal system. Those facts are just some among others that make the choice not only logical for using cloth diapers but essential for your baby's health.
