Is Your Child Going To Camp? The Six Best Tips For A Safe Summer From Francine Glick, CEO of Water Journey
Francine Glick, mother of two and inventor of Hands2GO (see www.waterjourney.com), the natural, alcohol-free, antibacterial hand sanitizer, suggests the following six tips to make your child's camp experience safe and memorable.
LIVINGSTON, NJ, June 23, 2010 /Parenting PR News/ -- It's time for the kids to go to camp again. As parents, we want our children to have a great summer and try new activities, but we also want to ensure their safety and well-being. Francine Glick, mother of two and inventor of Hands2GO (see www.waterjourney.com), the natural, alcohol-free, antibacterial hand sanitizer, suggests the following six tips to make your child's camp experience safe and memorable.
• Provide the camp authorities with a health history. Before the child's first day of camp, parents or guardians should provide the camp authorities with a health history, including the child's significant previous illnesses, operations, injuries, allergies, present state of health, and current medical problems. Also, orders from a licensed health care professional should be obtained for prescription medications, diets, or special medical devices such as inhalers or nebulizers .
• Teach children to hydrate. Explain to your children that the human body needs to have fluids on a regular basis. Especially during the summer, they should not wait until they are thirsty to drink. Encourage your child to drink non-carbonated, sugar-free fluids throughout the day.
• Apply sunscreen. Always apply sunscreen to your child before they leave for camp. Have your child re-apply at least once during the camp day, preferably after they go swimming.
• Provide insect repellent to protect children against ticks and mosquitoes.
• Keep a safe distance from wild animals. Teach your kids that wild animals are dangerous to people. Encourage them to enjoy them from a safe distance in their natural surroundings.
• Pack Hands2GO, natural, alcohol-free hand sanitizer and apply frequently. Getting a summer cold is no fun! Cleansing hands frequently kills germs that cause colds (including the H1N1virus), and it is especially important for children to do so before they snack or eat lunch. Hands2GO is a hypoallergenic hand cleanser that doesn't dry skin or sting hands and works as an antiseptic on small cuts and scrapes. It can be easily packed in a lunchbox, backpack or in a personal first-aid kit containing bandages, medications, and first-aid book.
Hands2GO is indispensable for campers of all ages. "Plus, its water-based, alcohol-free formula is non-toxic, non-flammable and safe for all forms of travel," says Glick. "The last thing you want to worry about is a flammable gel in your child's hands!"
