Infertility & Adoption Counseling Center to Host Teen & Tween Adoptee Workshop Series

Infertility & Adoption Counseling Center (IAC Center) in cooperation with Families with Children from China (FWCC) will host a workshop series for Teen and Tween adoptees on Sunday, November 6, 2011.

PENNINGTON, NJ, October 20, 2011 /Parenting PR News/ -- Extensive research shows that the years between eight and 16 are particularly challenging for adoptees as they develop their personal identity. This workshop series will provide teens and tweens an opportunity to meet peers with similar backgrounds and can help with feelings of self-esteem and self-discovery as they search for answers to their questions about who they are, what their history means, and what is most important to them. Parents will have the opportunity to meet other parents whose lives have been touched by adoption.

Joni S. Mantell, LCSW, Founder and Director of the IAC Center, is a recognized expert in the fields of infertility and adoption and a frequent author and "ask the expert" for Adoptive Families Magazine. She has created a lifelong short-term therapy model for dealing with personal, relationship and life-stage issues related to infertility and adoption.

This workshop series has been developed by IAC Center professional Counselors who specialize in dealing with general mental health and relationship concerns that are related to or occur in tandem with adoption issues. IAC Center Counselors are trained by Joni Mantell, LCSW in the IAC Center model.

The IAC Center provides a safe and professionally guided place to meet the needs of people whose lives have been touched by adoption at multiple points in the life cycle and offers individual counseling, support groups, workshops and consultations for individuals, families and professionals.

Families with Children from China (FWCC) is a nondenominational organization of families who have adopted children from China. The purpose of FCC is to provide a network of support for families who have adopted in China and to provide information to prospective parents. www.fwcc.org
